Has anyone fished this lake lately? Wondering if it worth the trip up to try it out. Heard it is the best bass fishing lake in Ok.

Any advise would be helpful.

Last time I went it sucked horribly, I’d wait for cooler temps to roll in.

Beautiful lake with the potential for your best day ever or complete suckitude.
I fished it last year about a month after all the spring rains. Maybe we should have waited another couple weeks, but the bass in there were under complete lock jaw. Now there were a couple of exceptions, with one of the bass being a big, fat beauty. The lake can be extremely tough. Agree with waiting a few weeks for the lake and water to stabilize. I have the suspicion that the bass in there prefer clearer water, and get severe lock jaw after muddy rains.

It can be really good or it can be really tough.

I went about the same time, probably a couple weeks before you and the fishing was fantastic, it sucked them close to cover up shallow

I fished it with CCTX, we caught some of the most pitiful, skinniest, sickliest looking fish I've ever seen anywhere. I'm not kidding, some of them looked like they had been filleted and had survived, largemouth and smallmouth. And then a toad that was as healthy as can be. I want to go back in the dead of winter, looks like a jerkbait/a-rig lake.

I’ll have to revise my theory. They did have the gates way open and the water level was dropping pretty quickly back to normal pool from 15ft high three weeks prior.

We went to Arbuckle because it was the most northern lake in Oklahoma at the time that wasn’t 30ft above pool

Pushing this to the top again.

I fished Murray on Sunday and they were biting. Nothing big but caught between 30 to 40 on crankbaits. I might fish Arbuckle this weekend and if anyone has a condition report, it would be helpful.
