I know we discuss this quite freqently on this board, but I do not think it can be reiterated enough. Please watch for these floaters out on Lewisville. This one was about 12-14 feet, judging by the width of my bow which is 8 feet.It was floating adjacent to the Lake Park ramp in the main lane from Sneaky's. This one probably broke off a tree and popped up, it did not appear to have been cut. It was old, heavy and sort of bobbing. We thought we had better get it to shore. My smart idea was to just grab it and set it on the rails, when we probably should have tied to it and towed it, but same end result.(Man I am not even going to try and describe the smell)I thought some creepy snake or bug or something was going to creep out of one of the knotholes and bite us. We were obviously in my pontoon going slow when we saw it, but in a boat planing out or just someone not really paying attention,(jet ski?) there is no telling what kind of damage this one could have done!

first off, it was very thoughtful of you to remove it like that, probably saved someone alot of problems, hats off to you.

secondly, how in the heck did you hoist that thing up onto you rails like that?

Many pats on the back my friend! That was a good deed you did. It looks like you were getting some serious R&R.

It wasnt easy, thats why I felt stupid about not towing it, kinda like "asking for directions" if ya know what I mean....

You should have hauled it back to the ramp, put it in the truck and taken it over to Ben's driveway or to the city of Corinth so they can see the fruit of their labors.

Like I said, it was obviously not cut, it broke off and popped up to the surface.

There are alot of floaters out there. Some due to the tree cut, and some due to the large amount of rain erroding the banks and the trees falling off the banks. I saw one a few weeks ago on shore than had the root ball still on it, and this was a big full grown Oak. Obviously fell into the lake from errosion. All I have seen have been on the Hickory Creek side of the bridge. I was the first casualty of the tree cut. North Texas Fiberglass did the work, many thanks to them for a good job and many thanks to you T-Roy for getting that thing outta there. I am convinced you saved someone great damage to their boat and possible great injury. You are one of the good folks out there. I picked one out of another lake as well last week. We all need to be taking these out as we find them. Be careful, almost every lake around here has floaters right now.
