I have a Toyota Tundra and it pulls my bass boat with no issues. We have an 23ft Airstream ordered and was wondering what kind of gas mileage can I expect if I buy a new Ford F-250. I have only owned Toyotaโs since 1990 but thinking about going the 3/4 ton diesel route. I get about 11.5-12 mpg pulling my boat but I know we will be pulling the Airstream a lot more than my boat. Just trying to decide if the Ford would be a better choice for a lot of hauling than a gas engine Toyota Tundra. Iโm gonna buy a new truck no matter what just need help deciding on a Ford or Toyota. Thanks in advance for you replies.

I was unaware that Airstreams are heavier than a space shuttle...

Lol. I know either one will tow the Airstream with no problem. I just know we will be traveling all over the US pulling the camper and just wondering if the F 250 would be a better choice than the Tundra.

What's the weight on the Airstream?
You are not a good or nice person.

When little baby Jesus had colic and couldn't sleep at night we would drive him around Bethlehem in a Ford F250 until he fell asleep. Good enough for sweet little baby Jesus. Good enough for me.

The wise men drove Tundraโs. Itโs in the Bible. Look it up. That's because after the birth of the sweet little baby they came to see him. And they brought him frankincense. Nobody wants frankincense. So this made God angry and he shunned them and made them drive Tundra's.

I love my Tundra, but to do what you described, I would look at the torque numbers and then go buy a F250 diesel and never look back. I believe it would be the best choice for you.

Need weight on trailer. If not over 8,500lbs I'd stay with the Tundra. You can buy a LOT of gas for the price of truck payments.
From what I could find online the trailer weights 6,000lbs and has a capacity to load 1,239 lb's. You should be good with the Tundra.

f250, you will wear out a gas engine fast towing like that. go out west and have to pull a grade or 2 and you will want the diesel. be sure you get a jake brake added, you will want it when in mts. there are ways to turn up the diesel without spending a ton of money too, mild tune will help a lot out west/in mts. and for overall fuel mileage.

At 60k for the diesel does the gas mileage really matter? take care of the diesel and it will be 500k before any major work should be needed. tow with a gas engine and replace it in 2-3 yrs. new engines are fine for short haulin stuff but pulling a travel trailer around they don't like so much. toyota be like 4 mpg with an airstream behind it.

I think I'm going to get the F250 Tremor with the 7.3 gas engine. That motor was designed for longevity and hauling. Get the same mileage as a Tundra, maybe better. None of the Diesel BS.

My son has a 24โ wakeboard boat that weighs around 7000# with the triple axel trailer. He started with a Tundra and the boat pretty much had its way with the truck. In the wind and in the mountains going to Broken Bow, it could be borderline dangerous. He got a F250 diesel and you barely know the boat is there. There is more to towing capacity than the weight of the load.
