I know there are no guarantees and the best place to be if a T-storm hits is to be
in the car vs. in the boat, but how much protection does being under a hwy bridge
give you from potential lightning strikes? Obviously much better than middle of the
lake, but has anyone ever heard of someone being struck while under a bridge?

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

I've had to make this call once...we tied off and laid on the deck. Luckily no lightning strikes occurred near us.

When we are 125 miles offshore on the sportfisher and can't get away from a big t-storm at night we will pull in the outriggers and hug the floaters as close as possible. We will be underneath the platform near the spar. That is a last resort. Our first option is to run from it, but that's not always possible. I would think a bridge would be a similar option......run from it if you can.....if you can't find the best cover possible.

I am sure somebody has been struck while under a bridge.

Find a bridge or if it's really bad and high winds just bank the boat and power pole down so you can ride it out on the bank I've had to do this a time or two.
