Would like to do a one week trip to this area in mid September. Can it be done in a week? Any advice on where to stay and what to do? Looks like Kalispel is the best place to fly into.

Family is everything! Life is precious. We don’t have forever. We have now. This moment. We can choose to love our lives now.

I really liked Yellowstone. September is a great time of year, just have some warm clothing. You can see a lot of the park in a week.

Book your hotel as soon as you know the dates you can go. They are normally full up.

We went there 2 years ago. Stayed at a big house in Victor, ID 4 nights. Spent 2 days in Grand Teton NP and one long day in Yellowstone - saw about one-fourth of it. On drive back to Texas fished Green River in Utah and Frying Pan in Colorado. If you. I would devote at least 3 days to Yellowstone and 1 to Grand Teton.

We spent 5 days in Yellowstone and didn't see it all. But the love blog was something to behold!
Team wolfs I had to perform. It took a minute to get it all in my mouth and another five to swallow it all.

my suggestion would be to fly into Kalispel, rent a car and spend a day touring Glacier...take that guided tour where they drive you around in one of those open top touring cars...glacier roads especially the "going to the sun" road are narrow with low guard rails...let someopne else do the driving so you can look at the beautiful views....drive down and find a motel in the Bozeman/Livingston area..it's only 323 miles and really pretty drive....stay in Bozeman area and spend 2-4 days driving down into Yellowstone each day....when you are ready to leave, drive to Billings, drop your rental car and fly home.... Glacier gets my vote as most scenic natl park in USA and Yellowstone not far behind....

We did the same trip a few years ago. Booked the trip and hotels months in advance for late June. Discovered the Going to the Sun road may or may not be open that time of year so changed it to mid July. Nice trip, lots of driving, but worth it. Usually packed a picnic for our lunch and stopped somewhere scenic to eat.
Flew into Jackson, picked up rental and spent the night in Jackson. Next day did the drive around there and the Tetons. Drove to Yellowstone where we spent the next two nights. People said to watch out for “moose jams”, “bear jams”, didn’t have a clue what the meant. First day driving thru Yellowstone traffic came to slow crawl. Once we got up to the front, there stood a big bull moose and we understood “moose jam”. Had several moose, bear, and a buffalo jams while there.
Left Yellowstone and drove up to Glacier. Spent the night and next day there, then Going to the Sun road to the other side. Spent the remainder of the day and night in Kalispell.
Next day we drove thru Idaho and into Spokane, where some friends live. Flew out of Spokane back to the house.
"Have a good day, unless you have other plans."

We spent 5 days in Yellowstone and didn't see it all. Took a year off of college and worked in YNP back in the day. I don't think I put a dent in seeing everything in and around that park. The backcountry up there is huge!

Thanks for the replies. After doing some research a good portion of the park is shut down. All the tours are suspended for the year. Maybe next year.
