We've had a couple people complain on our board about being tired of "bashing" bass fishermen and similar type posts, so I was wondering......what do bass fishermen really think of us?
I, myself, fish for multiple species of fish, bass being my first love as a kid. Many of us do, actually. As many bass fishermen are, many of us carpers are passionate....and some say things that seem out of line.
What is your general perception, if any, of c&r Carp Fishermen? WHen you see a carp fisherman, if ever, does a stereotype jump to your head?
I'm just wondering....not wanting to fight at all....just interested in your comments.

Just another fish that allows others to enjoy the great outdoors and the great sport of fishing.
Prepare for the future-it will be here tomorrow. Personal Best Large Mouth Bass 9 lbs. 12 oz 5/13/19. Herb Stein, who famously reminded us that “if something can’t go on forever, it will stop.”

A fisherman is a fisherman is a fisherman. Not all hunters go after the same game. Nor use the same equipment. I could really care less what people fish for as long as they are having fun doing it. I have caught carp in the past, wasnt trying to. They just ate my bass lures. My 2 cents.

Kinda cry babys. I do not read many of the post. But I know that the one guy that threatened legal action about a joke was a real goon. Who could probably use some time off of the computer, and needs to get a life.
Everytime soemone post a picture of a carp, or gar that has been hunted they have to explain what they did with it, and defend themselves. As if it is anyones business what they do with it. (unless your a gamewarden)
So to wrap it up, a bunch of cry baby, finger pointing, wawas.
You asked

I do not stereotype anyone so when I see a carp angler I just look at them like any other fisherman. Ithink its cool that ya'll are so organized and avid about your sport. Ya'll have my respect as anglers. That being said I also respect the rough fishermen that use other methods including bows. I for one think that a few of the guys that post down in that section need to know that they will not agree with every post on carp, gar and other fish that is made on the TFF. Some of them act as if they have some duty to post on the bowfishing threads and cause issues with those guys and as a moderator it gets old fast. Some of them seem to think they need to "approve" what is acceptable when it comes to those species. They want respect for their methods but cannot seem to give that same respect back. A lot of whining happens all too often. There is no guarantee you will like what you read and I wish some of them would just stay out of those topics. Not trying call anyone out but the question was asked and I responded. Take care and keep on fishing. For the record I feel the same way about the catch and release zealots that attack a guy for keeping a bass as well. As long as ANY fish is taken in a legal manner its no one's right or business to call someone out for that. Sometime's just knowing when to leave it alone will go a long way.

To me fishing is fishing... It does seem some of that group though has a chip on it's shoulder. Kinda like they have to prove they are real fishermen or something. Just relax and fish.

I wish there was a lot more of you. Carp were brought here from Russia to be a game fish for fishermen but all they do is eat grass. I love grass and wish there were fewer carp. Also I would never try to catch one because I would have to touch the little stinker. Ya'll keep it up. On a brighter note I did see a carp that was in 4 foot of water eating grass on the bottom and his tail was coming out. It's tail was at least twenty inches wide. It was in Fox creek just off of the Tennessee river.

It is really about enjoyment. Fish for anything, just fish. It is the best sport for relaxing I can think of. I do not think of myself as a bass fisherman, cat fisherman, crappie fisherman...........I think of myself as a fisherman.
Fish on.

The only thorn in my side about the carp anglers is the cheesy way they pose with photos. All crouched down, kind of gansta style with the fish held out in front of them, their head cocked and looking at the fish as if they posed in some kind of "admiration of the fish" shot rather than looking at the camera. I'm sure my reaction is about as cheesy as I think the pictures are, so I've never said anything until now.

I guess I am not savvy enought to tell what the heck someone is fishing for.
My post back to you---what issues--if--any have you experienced with Bass anglers. Before you answer, remember we have you out-numbered. :0
Seriously though--I appreciate your response as I feel I speak for 99% of this forum when I state anything we can do to show proper etiquette while out on the lake fishing, we will do.
You will not find a classier bunch of people than Bass anglers.
Tanks!
Go Fishing!

As for the always askin' about bowfishin', I'm one of them. It's a nervous tick...it's like a cigarette....I gotta pick it up and puff. I dont have a problem with the fact that you like fishing rough fish. But you guys can be jerks and many just AH's. You attack like a pack of dogs when a post appears that has anything to do with bowfishing....something established as legal in the State of Texas. So go "puff" on something else. We dont go and question your reasoning for going after rough/trash fish. You stick ur fish in the mouth with a hook and we stick them with an arrow. The day I start seeing carp/gar being laid on the cleaning tables more often I will change my mind as considering how they should be harvested.
