I am posting this for a friend of mine. He has a 2006 Nitro with a 2006 (115hp) Mercury OptiMax. Unknowing to him his vent plug on his lower unit came up missing. You can imagine what happen the last time he put the boat in the water.
If anyone knows where he can get a good used or rebuilt lower unit for a reasonable price, please post it here or send me a PM. I will pass the info on to him.

Not sure how "leaving a screw out" is covered under insurance.

Bazztex Thanks for the website I will check it out.
He did not leave the plug out. It just disappeared (I think somebody took it). The insurance company is going to see what they can do, but like you steve I do not think they will will help much.
