Small stripers 10-15" are everywhere and hungry. The top water bite is non stop all day long if you want to chase small stripers with the occasional sand bass. Today you could hear the fish hitting the top easier than you could see them. But once you located them you could see the very small shad getting blown out of the water. Was able to find some larger stripers cruising the McCown flats in 23-28 fow. Was able to catch em on slabs ( casting slab 2 oz two tone green/white). Have to really work for them at times. Had to keep burning the slabs up from the bottom vertically to half way up the water column and let the slab flutter back down, have to do this over and over but stick with it one will eventually hit on the drop as they all hit on the drop today. Every once in a while a group of fish will come through and they want let the slab hit the bottom

Found several schools this morning on the McCown flats but they were fast movers and hard to stay on the larger fish. For the most part the stripers were inactive and I had to keep moving and looking to find some active feeding fish. Finally found some larger fish along with the 14"ers. They only wanted slabs that had green or chart. This time of year on Whitney I start to looking for stripers around road beds. Couldn't find many active fish on the flats or other structures so started looking at road beds and they were waiting on me

I scanned several road beds on the way in today and you can see that the fish are there. These fish are inactive when I scanned them but you can see how they relate within the vicinity the road beds.

Was able to get back out today and the stripers were still in the same places as last trip 3 weeks ago. The small stripers 12-16" are everywhere. Having to work through the small stripers, the larger stripers seem to be on the outer edges of the huge schools of the smaller stripers in small packs. Still vertically jigging chart/chrome and green /white slabs and large flutter spoons with the slabs still producing best, reeling fast almost to the top and letting it flutter back down. Still seeing lots of small stripers chasing shad on top. The best action today was along the McCown flats flats from 23-30 fow

Lots of small stripers, future looks good

Even the small stripers are hitting the large flutter spoons

You should Randy, a major portion of the stripes in Whitney were raised in PK waters.

Give us a report of your excursion plz.

Good stuff! What have you done exactly if you don’t mind me asking to get such detailed arcs? I am super impressed with some of your sonar pictures and I believe we both have Solix mega. I will get someone super sharp pics like that when it’s completely still in the boat is not moving at all but most the time it’s not near that defined

Try dropping your screen scroll speed to about 2. You will get better arcs.

I am also running airmar transducers which really help. Humminbird has a HW (high wide) low q 2d transducer that will work with the gen 1 solix along with a splitter cable. The returns are comparable to the airmar ducers for about $90.

I knew it!! LOL

I'm running a helix 12 G3N with the Humminbird HW transducer. It's great but not that sharp. Do you know which model transducer you have?
