My boat hasnt seen much use for the past several years. So I wasn't terribly surprised to see that one of the tires had gone flat. No problem, right? I have a jack, spare tire, etc.

Back the truck up and connect the trailer to the hitch so the trailer doesnt move. Loosen the lug nuts on the tire before jacking it up. Jack the trailer up and get the tire off before the jack slips out. Apparently the gravel parking pad isnt the best place to set a jack.

My side of the trailer drops, and the trailer pops up OFF the hitch ball. Grumble, grumble. Reset jack on solid concrete, block opposite tire, and reattach to truck. Ensure that trailer hitch is actually locked in place this time. Unbolt spare tire and start to pull it off -

HAND ON FIRE!!!!!

turns out that there's an enormous hornet nest inside the spare tire carrier. Ow, ow, ow ow ....

Liberally apply hornet spray to everything. Eventually get spare installed. Oh look, more hornets, time to go inside.

Sometimes you just have to see the signs. In this case, it was a day you were not supposed to go fishing.....

Oh, that was yesterday. Today is turning into it's own debacle. The redhead had surgery a few weeks ago to put in a spinal cord stimulator (pain control doohickey). It's not working the way it's supposed to, so it's starting to look like the entire day will be spent back & forth at doctors offices & hopsital to reset the bloody thing.

2020 is turning into an epic year for a lot of folks. Good luck with the pain management issues.

So did you just set the boat, trailer and truck on fire just to be sure you killed all the hornets?

I'm torn between these two approaches. I mean, the boat was paid in full long ago, so I can do whatever I want with it. And it sure would be nice to watch them little jerks suffer in the flames!
