For around $200 bucks I'd try to find a used Power Tackle PG104. What technique do you believe this rod excels at?

I use both Power Tackle Rods and Falcon Cara's.
Not a Dobyns hater at all! I think Gary makes great rods as well. I like TFO rods too for the price. Have you ever tried the North Fork Composites that he now builds?

Look at Impulse rods, made in Magnolia Tx, they are great rods at a good price and Lance Stringer is a class act guy.

No idea how a Dobyns rod isn’t sensitive enough...May look at the Legend Series from St Croix and see if that fits your eye. Tackle Tour reviewed the Ecstasy series and kinda bashed on Dobyns lacking sensitivity and their heavy measured like a medium to medium/heavy. They did compare it to an NRX though, so the Dobyns really was dead before it started. Lol. I’d recommend Falcon Experts at the $200 price point. I need to go read that article. The only Xtasy series I have is the 755C and while the diameter and weight of the rod is in line with a medium heavy or even a medium rod, the power is NOT. It's actually the lightest weight to power rod I've ever fished with. I can also feel a perch fart on it. Of course everyone is entitled to their own opinion and 10 guys could use the same rod and come up with 10 different stories. I am also a little biased since I've known Gary for many years and consider him a good friend, but that would never make me lie about the quality of the products he makes. Heck, I've even heard Gary say out loud if a rod does or doesn't perform the way he wants it to then replace it with a new design, tweak it or just get rid of it. He's not exactly the shy type and admits fault but also is proud of the products he makes.

What rod do you recommend for the same price range as a Sierra or Champion XP?
I really like my Sierra rods, but I'm looking for a good TX rig rod. I keep reading how Dobyns aren't sensitive enough for bottom baits. So, what would you buy for around $200? I have used G Loomis, Dobyns, Shimano, Falcon, TFO, Lews, and St. Croix over the years and in the $200 range I like the E6X, Dobyns Champion, and the St. Croix Avid. Full disclosure it has been since the the gen 1 Caras since I used Falcon and just as long for the Shimano and Lews so I am sure they have all improved. I think they are all fairly comparable in sensitivity in that price range. The Dobyns Sierra is pretty close for under $180. I have switched to mostly Dobyns due to the balance of the rod compared with the reel. They feel lighter because they are not so tip heavy. The E6X felt very tip heavy to me, but could be the way I palm the reel. St. Croix and Dobyns seem to have the best balance for me and I notice it after a long day and have plenty of sensitivity. Once you get to the level of the NRX, Extasy, or Expride it is amazing, but you in the $500 and up price range and that gets pricey. I only have one NRX and one Extasy and I find them pretty comparable in sensitivity.

The Dobyns Sierra rods and above are just fine for bottom baits. You already have some and like them so no reason to change. G Loomis makes great rods but the E6X is not one of them. It is not as sensitive as the Sierra. The Sierra is a fantastic Tx. rig rod. Whatever you are reading about them about being not sensitive enough is just fake news. If you ever make it out to Lake Fork you can try out many of the brands suggested. I have a bunch of different brands. I no longer have the E6X. I did not like it so I sold it. Just not sensitive enough for me. The NRX is the most sensitive one I have but it is expensive. I have Powell, Kistler, Daiwa, Dobyns, Major Craft, Power Tackle, Loomis, Megabass, Shimano, Falcon. FXtreme, and some custom rods.

I have a flipping stick and 2 cranking rods and absolutely love both of them. Now, I've never paid more than $200 on a rod before, so can't compare them to more expensive models. I do know I was dragging a 1/2 oz jig in 20' with 30 mph winds last Sunday and had no problems feeling the bite. I typically only go heavier if the wind forces me to, and I never felt the need.

The Falcon Lowrider 7’ MH F Rod is about as close to perfect as you can get for a tax rig Rod. And only $129. I had an older Cara T7 and actually preferred the action in the low rider series that isn’t available in any other Falcon.
