After incubating the pecans for 45 days in the garage refrigerator I soaked them for 48 hours in a five gallon bucket of water, then planted them in 1 gallon pots. I’ll keep em watered till they break ground.[Linked Image]

I chose two kinds, Georgia pecans and Texas paper shell out of San Saba, the Georgia pecans were huge! We will see which ones do better, I’ll transplant what comes up this year next February, then graft them a year after that. I planted 100 Texas and 100 Georgia as I figure I’ll have some that won’t make it, The goal is to get 50 out of em.

Pecans are very slow growing trees and do best when the tap root can get to ground water. That is why they grow best on river bottoms. Best trees ever. good luck.

GOD is good!

I'll just be retiring about then. I've been growing peach trees for 16 years - got up to 200 at one point - now i'm down to about 135 and they are way too much work.

I didn't realize all the incubating and soaking was necessary. I've had pecan trees at three different houses and the squirrels had saplings growing in every flowerbed surrounding the house.

This is unreal. I know you don’t have a ton of money in this. But, you have a lot of work. Good luck.
