Going for first time Saturday. Any hazards to be aware of? How’s the largemouth and/or white bass bite out there right now?

Mind the buoys and understand the guidelines for running.

Shallow water up lake, but easy run. Extremely limited timber on some protected points.

Be prepared for LOTS of boat traffic. No grass. Very little timber. LOTS of boat docks. Some deeper ones up Panther Creek. Dam always seems to hold some fish.

Hazards would be the wake boat traffic on the dam side...find a deep cove with docks in a pocket or stay west of the bridge...that should get you in some calmer water.

Sure will.... pretty sure there was a 30lb sack caught out of there earlier this year or early last year. I believe I read that on here; was a couples tournament.

Yep and caught on Frogs. It was during that magical 2 week stretch this Spring which I think was the same time MLF was at Fork.

The fishing now is TOUGH. Lots of small spots on points and humps but tough to catch any decent largemouth. I'd also be on the water at day light and off by 11 if you're fishing Saturday. Otherwise enjoy the washing machine that is Cypress on a weekend.

Discovered on my last trip that you get the wake boat wake twice.
Hits you from the lake and bounces right back from the sea walls 😬

Well guys...definitely not getting good vibes from what everyone is saying roflmao

I guess we could fish any of the 3: Cypress, Sandlin or Monty...or Winnsboro is just as close. I fishing fork fairly regularly so I'm trying to run new water. Would you guys recommend any of the others?

Yep. Not only did getting rid of the grass hurt the fishing, but it dirtied up what used to be beautifully clear water.

Monticello is permanently closed, unless you're fishing from the 21 bridge or a kayak.
Sandlin is fishing tough as well, if you can find them early or on some structure. 11 pounds won a tournament there last weekend.
