What is your favorite way to fish log piles from when the lake was built that are in 15-20 foot of water? Mine have to look like a Christmas tree from all of the deep divers and I can almost kiss a jig good by on one.

I like to throw a jig, 10" worm, 6" lizard, or something like a rage craw. Usually 1/2 oz. on the jig and 3/8 or 1/2 oz Texas rigged for the plastics. 20# or 25# test if the cover is really thick. You will hang up a lot more if you make long casts into it. Get in close and make short pitches. Feed it line and work it through the cover until it hits bottom. Bounce it a few times. If nothing bites you might raise it up off the bottom until it bumps a piece of wood that's not right on the bottom. A suspended fish may hit it here if you raise and lower the bait a couple of times. I then will reel in and pitch 2 or 3 feet to the side of the previous pitch. If the cover is thick your bait can fall into a completely different opening in the logs that was missed by the previous pitch. Fishing a spot like this is usually good for a few good bites and not numbers. If I'm really confident in a spot but didn't catch anything, I will hit it again in several hours. Sometimes your timing is just off a little.

I really like a jig on wood structures like that, if I’m hanging up I’ll peg a 3/8 oz sinker and pitch a soft plastic like Clark said. Craw or brush hog. Short cast really help just stay down wind of the pile. I drop it to the bottom. It no bite pull it up to the first limb and bump the limb several times. Repeat. You will get bit if they are in the biting mood.
