Need the best certified technician - had the bolts shear off of my pulley on top of the air compressor this evening while idling into the marina at Eagle Mountain.....So boat is out of commission...
Only one month out of the warranty on the 2005 Optimax 200hp - anybody think Merc will help out on this since it is obvious that some of the boltheads have been broken off for a while?????
Thanks for any help !!!!!!

I've heard of that problem before. Call Mercury customer service and maybe they will cut you a deal. I take my boat to Mark Gunter on Jacksboro hwy and he has my vote for a Mercury Mechanic. 817 626 5693.

Allison could be right. Mercury is trying hard to better their customer relations. You will need to get it to Mercury dealer for thier help as well.

dogndux I will say hands down the best mercury tech in the dallas fort worth area if not all of north texas will be opti on here. he is a close friend and very honest. used to work at bass pro as the master tech there. opti is the only person who will ever touch my mercury for warranty or after warranty work. this is my third mercury he will get to work on.
opti is currently working at north texas marine in fort worth on 820. goes by david green

Call on Opti. He does a great job and is the most helpful guy I've seen on the forum.
Be careful with Gunter, he did work I didn't ask him to do. Get the agreemnet clear up front.

This is easy..Have worked with and around (opti)David green, many years dont anymore..But while i did he was very picky and critical of all the work he did and of the work i did..Dont think i ever seen his boats come back for work he had performed...The only reason they would come back was for the next years tuneup..Or to have some other recall by mercury fixed..When im out working on boats if i run into something i cant fix or have never seen i give (OPTI) a call and he will explain in great detail what to look for and how to fix..And this all happens in a few minutes ..I owe him alot for this..HIS KNOWLEDGE ON MOTORS IS UNBELIVABLE,MERC ,SUZUKI,OMC,NISSIAN,FORCE,TOHATSU,ETC..Dont think i ever seen him fix a chrysler though ,but he probally could...lets start a vote OPTI GETS MINE...

wow that was a while ago. since he got his master tech from mercury, he has just gotten that much better. I am glad to see him leave bass pro. he was not being challenged at all. now at north tx marine, he has to work for a living.

OK Tommy and/or OPTI,
Where were you when I jumped off into deep water and couldn't swim with the big dogs in the electric current. I really could have used some help. (refer to 3 topic posts concerning AGM start batteries and stator) Just kidding!!
I am through demonstrating my ignorance (I hope); but, am still curious why the stator, timer base thing (trigger) and the power pack would all crash at the same time.
If you decide not to reply because I am a hopeless case, that is OK too!!
Sorry Dogndux for hijacking your post. This is just my attempt to improve my outlook on life after taking a very respectful spanking on my 3 posts.
