I saw a guy at Toledo Bend a while back who had made some by useing the palstic (water weiners) from Wall Mart, I don't know if that is the right name for them or not but it is the round foam sticks about three inches in diameter and four foot long thyat kids play with in swimming pool. The ones he had were about 12" lond with a piece of 1/2" PVC pipe run through the middle with a cap on each end. If you try these, be sure the ones you buy have a hole through the middle. You just tie a piece of line to one end and add whatever you want for hooks, he used duck decoy weights which made them easy to roll up and store. Also read the Texas Parks and Wildlife book about jug lines, they are supposed to have a white gear tag and I don't know how to handle that one. s

If I'm not fishing or hunting I'm hunting a place to fish or hunt.

Go to jugsbybert.com, they have the neatest jugs I have seen. You have to assemble them but they catch fish. If I knew how to post pictures I would show you some unbelieveable pictures of catfish we have caught on these jugs. We set them right on the breakline of a creek or river using shrimp or shad, hang on!

I use duck decoys!!! A LOT MORE FUN TO WATCH!!! And even get a little calling practice in for duck season.

I use 2" PVC pipe about 18" long with the ends capped. Roll your line around them and stand up in 5 gallon bucket until you use them. Easy to handle no blowing jugs in the boat. Write your information on them with a sharpie and add a piece of refective tape on them if you use them at night.

Big Lots carries those sytrofoam water weeeeeiners... cheap too. they have a hollow cavity you can run your twine up and tie off . you can probably get a stainless washer witha small hole to run your twine thru then tie off. they come in bright colors too, so the ornery ol bass fisherman would have no excuses to to NOT SEEING them... make sure you tag them.PLEASE!

Those jugsbybert are interesting; I have never seen them before. Hooker, the jug you displayed is like the ones I use. I think the way you have your name and date on them is great so I started doing the same.

I've use the Jugs by Bert but only in farm ponds and they do work well, but like with anything, there's "pro's and con's".
Pro's:
They flip over when you make a catch
They have a rosette at top to fasten any extra line
They come with everything you need to set up your jugline
They make both white for Recreational and Orange for Commercial

Con's:
The float itself can break somewhat easy
I'd change out the heavy mono main line to braided nylon
