LOL. Having just moved here from Tennessee, I'm frustrated with the amount of wind we have here. Anything over 6-7 mph was a tornado to me. Does it calm down any in the Fall or early Winter? Or is this just another "Welcome to Texas" thing?

I think it depends on where you fish, mostly. And Texas is a big state, so it's different all over. For the most part, though, the state is flat. So you're going to get more wind generally. I live closer to the Gulf, and so that also produces more wind.

Yup. Welcome to Texas. 10-20 is all too common. 15-25 isn’t out of ordinary. I’d much rather have the wind during summer anyway.
If you can't find em wind em.

I moved here from Wyoming. It’s positively calm down here compared to the high plains. Wind is good though. Stirs up the plankton that stir up the baitfish that stir up the bass.

I worked in Wamsutter, Wyoming for 6 years. I’m not sure our plane ever landed in Rock springs that we weren’t hitting the runway sideways.
It's only a good cast if you catch a fish... Personal Best: 11.62 lbs

I think this has been a windier summer than the past few, it happens some years. It also get windier the further west you go in Texas.

One of the reasons Texas sells more 20-21ft boats. They’re safer on rough lakes.
Eat. Sleep. Fish.

This time of the year you would burn up if the wind is less than 10mph.

I think it is safe to say it's good to get used to fishing in 10mph wind and the winter is probably the worst for wind lol Wind is a good thing when it's a 101 outside...

Try living out west when the wind blows less than 15 most people fall over, We're just used to leaning into it. Learn to get used to it.

Or is this just another "Welcome to Texas" thing? I feel your pain.. I moved here from Ga. where the lakes are surrounded by 60' tall pine trees and you could get out of the wind pretty easily when it was blowing. I think that its really important to have a TM with Spot Lock or Anchor mode. Otherwise, you are constantly fighting the trolling motor to maintain position. As far as seasonal relief.. it blows year round.

Ive had a bass boat since 1995 and when I moved to Iowa I would go fishing once in a while and the wind would pick up every day about 9 so I wouldnt make it much past that.. I was racing cars full time and building them so fishing was just a once in a while weekend thing....
Then in 2016 I googled trolling motors because I saw a add about some spot lock thing and thought it sounded interesting. I bought a terova and put that on my 84 glastron and went fishing, that day the wind picked up at 9 and I fished 7 more hours without even thinking about it, it was no big deal to me because I just hit spot lock and then used my remote to jog 5 feet any direction at a time etc.
I hated that trolling motors pedal by the way, so I always used the remote, but spot lock kept me out on the lake for longer than I had stayed in the last 10 years. When I was having to run a normal trolling motor like many people I would fish in the non windy areas, once I had that spot lock I thought hmmm if the wind blows into xxx bank then bait is being blown in there etc. so I started fishing in the wind only and my catch rate went way up and I had more fun fishing etc. Fishing in the wind makes it tolerable when its 90-100 and humid out etc.
Ive got a newer boat now, talons and all the latest stuff and no regrets. I fish a lot more now and look for the wind blown banks specifically.

I live 20 minutes or so (depending on where you want to launch) from Sam Rayburn and if the wind is blowing 10 mph at home you can bet it's close to 20 on Big Sam!
