Try reading the news:

"In a survey of residents conducted by the city, more than 60% said the rally should be postponed. But businesses pressured the City Council to proceed."

so 60% of those who responded to the survey. "hardly most people" but thanks for answering for Gusick. He needed a water boy.

"hardly most people"

How do you know how many residents responded to the survey?

Since most business in Sturgis make about 85% of their yearly money and in this ten day stretch I highly doubt they voted to cancel the rally. The people who live there that don’t work or own business in Sturgis have not like the rally in years nothing new. You can’t just change dates some people have vacation time for this. The waitresses come from all over to work this and other rallies. They cannot just change everything at the last minute. The people in Sturgis appreciate the rally and it’s money but they don’t really like the two week noise fest that goes with it.

Kinda like that dam SXSW fest in Austin. People in Austin go on vacation to get away from it.

Agree, it is a time of year for these folk to drop the kids off at the grandparents and they get to dress in their "biker costumes" and get away from their day job as an agent for State farm insurance and pretend to be an outlaw. This is specific because I have a fair weather acquaintance who rides with us but only if it is between 60 and 80 degrees and he is not playing golf, and will not ride more than 100 miles at a time.

several years ago I stopped at Savana,Ill. on one of my river trips. Savana is a popular destianation for midwest bikers due to a popular bar/restaurant that hosts a lot of concerts/bands....ate dinner there couple nights and they had a gift shop with all sorts of biker wear...I saw a T-shirt that I wish I had bought...it said simply...."It's the ride not the destination"....and that really applies to motorcyclists (river rats too)........

I spent a week up there about 6 yrs ago working for Chevrolet in one of their tents. Talked to thousands of people all week. Lots of different accents so I started keeping track - I spoke with people from 21 different countries. As far as riding their bikes, spoke with a group of 5 Mexicans that rode all the way from Mexico City. No senoritas and no necessito no pinche trailer.

I equate most Harley riders now days to Nitro owners. Most are a dork CPA or lawyer who walks into a dealership one Saturday and says I want that big pretty one over there. uses it 3 times in the next 5 years and thinks he's a rider or a pro tourney guy. …… flat shameful.

Why is a Harley like a Hoover? They both suck and have dirt bags on top.

You know, they are not all Harleys anymore. My first year to experience the rally, I was surprised by the amount of BMW motorcycles. Now it seems that the three-wheel motorcycles are as common as the regular ones but I'm not sure who makes them.

Sadly we get several motorcycle deaths this time of the year across Wyoming. Ride safe and be patient. Lots of truck traffic on the highways with all those bikes.

I predict there will be no motorcycle deaths this year in Wyoming. Only people on motorcycles that died of china virus.
