I am fishing a lot of deep water lately and keep hearing about the jigging technique that is basically straight up and down under your boat (sorry, I am a little new to modern fishing techniques). There is a video on it in Youtube - they call it "Video Game Fishing" https://youtu.be/6Px5NMcNREs

My question: what size/weight of jig head should I be using? I am having to buy online because I cannot get to the store, and it is hard to judge that way.

welcome Geoff. Keep watching those Videos. You will catch on. This is called a Drop Shot Rig. There is no Jig Head.
- weights are used depending on the depth you are vertical fishing.
- At 20 ft I use a 3/8 oz ball or cylinder weight.
- Cylinder weight do not roll as bad and twist your line.
- Trick Worm is rigged Wacky style which is through the egg sack and is a side ways presentation.
- The hook is a small 1 or 2.0 circle hook for Wacky.
- A small worm hook 1 or 2.0 can be used to TX. Rig the worm which makes it weedless as shown in the Video near the end.

Good luck bud.
Donald

Thanks! Youtube is definitely a great resource. This is primarily for the >50' or so depths at Canyon Lake. It never occurred to me to simply jig/troll off the side of the boat versus casting to structure like brush or other. I am excited to try it. Though Canon Lake ends to beat the excitement out of me fairly quickly when I get out there :-).
