How are guides supposed to be attached to rods these days? I ordered a new bass rod (baitcaster) and it arrived with a broken guide. Upon inspection it looked like the guide was just epoxied on. I thought there was supposed to be thread under the epoxy to strengthen the joint...or am I behind the times on rod construction? This was a $160 rod from a smaller us manufacturer.

Send it back and ask for a refund or replacement. The guides should be wrapped with thread then epoxy coated.

I reached out to the manufacturer the day I received the rod...that said they would send a replacement. That was over 2 weeks ago...no replacement and they have ignored 2 emails since then...makes me wonder if they are going under. It is irritating because I specifically chose a small us manufacturer only to get a defective product and no customer service. Should have gone with st croix I guess. The rod company is Cajun rods...buyer beware their rods are inferior and their customer service sucks.
