I go up to texoma just about every weekend and I am wondering if the bigger striper are hiting top or if they are better on slabs. also if they have not started scholling yet where is the best place to catch shad I am out of highport. last week i did catch a 16lbs 30in cought last sunday on live shad at the dam in 36 ft of water after all of the storms about 3:00 pm.

From all the blogs I've seen they are live bait feeding right now. With the spawn over, it would make sense to me that they would bite anything dropped in from of them, but in reading this week everyone is saying live bait...

Live bait as of last weekend. Shad are a bit tougher to find. Look at the shorelines at daylight. If you know what to look for you should be able to find the shad. They are moving on a daily basis, so it's really hard to give exact locations on where to find them right now.

Also, you might get up early (2-3am) and throw under the marina lights.

As for the striper, we were getting them in between Little Mineral and the Dam. Lots of water to cover there, but there were lots of fish in that area. For the last couple weeks 65-75ft of water has been where they are roaming. We are catching them about 25-30 pulls down.

Good luck to ya.. Me and some friends are going to be out there this weekend, giving it a go... Taking a couple of new fishermen, so hopefully we will get them hooked up.

We are going to try the light for shad thing...

Well if you know were highport mariana is south of all the islands, last week we caught alot of bait there right across from the mariana on North Island and probly could have around the mariana and gas docks if we got out a lil earlier, but that might be a little far drive( i dont know what boat you have) but it usaully is good for bait around their early if you can find them schooling along the shores and a lil deeper in 6-10 feet of water.

Texoma looks like one large mud puddle right now...

Water is high...starting to drop a little but there is several ramps still closed and the water is nasty, with lots of floating debri...

BE CAREFUL out there!

Lots of floating logs, and other misc stuff...

Bait, seems to be the key...

Hayden, I will be out there in beige manta ray. say hi if you see me.. good luck..

Also love the Philosophy of your Signature : Three-fourths of the Earth's surface is water, and one-fourth is land. It is quite clear that the good Lord intended us to spend triple the amount of time fishing as taking care of the lawn.
