I broke both the radius and ulna in my dominant arm, which is my retrieving hand. I am looking for a Tenkara rod that is a shorter rod, especially not the Czech Nymphing lengths, but I don't know much about Tenkara, and I'm struggling to find any of these shorter rods. I thought TFO had one, but I just can't seem to find any of those shorter rods. Since this will be the only way I can participate in fly fishing for quite awhile, I would appreciate some helpful sites regarding Tenkara and Tenkara rods.

Thank you in advance!

I know nothing about tenkara other than the people at Living Waters fly shop in Round Rock fish it and promote it a lot and carry lots of different models. Give them a call tomorrow and I’m sure they can help you out. They are good people.

That does not sound like a good ending. Hope you recover quickly and can get back to fishing soon. It's good therapy.

Hey, ML!
I did post on their FB wall and heard back from them. They recommended Tenkara USA's Rhodo rod, so I think that's what I'll do. Russell also recommended a Tenkara USA rod, and it seems they have a very good warranty.

Thank you.

Aw, Curt, thanks! It's gonna be all right, and it could have been much, much worse. As my nephew says, "At least you broke your arm doing something you love--fly fishing."
Now, Vibram soles, I've always despised them, but now, it's a true loathing of the class action lawsuit type loathing.

I know little about them as well, but I think they are supposed to be long rods - as part of their effectiveness.

Glad they were able to help you out. Good luck with your new setup!

Yup. I have the USA Iwana, and like I said ... it's for sale.

My first Tenkara outing! I was extremely excited by some small, common fish! Seeing as my arm affected tonight's sleeping, I diverted my attention to fly fishing by writing about a simple, two-hour outing. Thanks for the feedback, messages, and help!

First Tenkara Outing

Neat! Will you continue Tenkara when you are rehabbed and can return to conventional fly tackle?

Some people go to church and think about fishing. Some go fishing and think about God.

Yes, I think I will for certain locales and species. I told my uncle how reactive a fly was with just a twitch. The grasshopper, which was the "hit n' spit" on the video, moved so realistically with just slight twitches. I loved the sensitivity of the rod. If I could handle the longer lengths, I would have almost no line on the water. Additionally, I see that Living Waters Fly Shop offers Tenkara only trips, and that sounds so appealing.
