The lake has a small watershed and the utility used to pump water in. No one has the resources to do that anymore. So in a drought year it will be drastic. I think the netters we’re providing a service in removing tilapia. A waterbody can only have so much biomass and short of removal near 100% of the living things in that lake would have been tilapia in the end. Where did they pump water in from? The Trinity river?

nothing wrong with lake. . Have been once in last year did fine. Fairfield ain’t dead learn to fish it you will be rewarded. Slow down fish lol. Just old guy talking [censored].

One thing about Fairfield you are in complete silence down there. No distractions from industry or traffic I love it.
I always have a great trip to that place very secluded and beautiful.

The pumped water used to come out in a cove near the dam on the NE side of the lake. And the fishing there was awesome at that spot when that water flowed into the lake!

So...is the lake level down due to low rainfall, or are they still pumping water in ? Anybody know ?

Vogey...as I understand it, since the power plant shut down, no water is being pumped in due to cost. The lake has a limited drainage and it takes a major rain event to put water in the lake. It will be interesting to see if water can be pumped in the future.

Fairfield has some very nice channel catfish in it, too! The gar are a pain!

Last time I fished it was the weekend before they shut the plant off. Water was low and grass was a little sparce but still managed a 30 fish day, with no really big fish.
Prior to that, I'd had several 20lb+ sacks out of it. Fish are there and I hope it doesn't close.
