Rumor has it that the TPWD may extend the 63 day season IF the State's Snapper Allotment in (Federal Waters) is not met. State Waters, snapper season is year around.....Stay tuned

Does the TPWD post their estimated catch numbers like some of the other gulf states do?

If they are thinking of extending the season they need to announce it now! It could save lives of those going out in small boats in marginal conditions that we have for the duration of the season. These folks would not risk it if they knew there was more time. If someone dies the TPWD needs to share the accountability.

They assume that risk entirely on their own and are not going to die if they donโt get to those federal water snapper for the dinner table. Not the responsibility of TPWD, boat makers, or the guy who sells bait. I find your position on this ludicrous.

Of course it's everyone's own responsibility . That does not change the fact that some folks might not take the risk if they knew there was more time.

Of course it's everyone's own responsibility . That does not change the fact that some folks might not take the risk if they knew there was more time. These guys are not fishing for sustenance. I'm sure they will eat what they catch, but they don't have to fish to live. If they make a life-or-death decision in order to catch a fish, there is no way anyone could try to put that responsibility on the feds, on TPWD, or anyone but the idiot that drove his boat into the storm.
