So got a kayak a few weeks ago, that being said I’ve been out and have had zero luck in catfish. Been using cut bluegill for bait but no luck. Anyone have any pointers? Feel free to PM me if needed

Try around the marinas in 20 to 30 feet of water. If you are after eating size fish, try a punch bait.

Grapevine has no fish! Lol I put the buffet out today! Cut bait, punch bait, worms, whole bluegill and zero catfish 😩😩😩. Will try a new spot tomorrow 😁😁

I know nothing about Grapevine, but catfish are gonna be in deeper water now, as Osborn said. Try fishing in flooded timber near drop offs or creeks, or near humps. Bait a couple holes with range cubes or soured grain like milo or corn, then try it again. Good luck !

First find shad. Then use it for bait at night in deep coves. Try different depths until you find them. They come shallower during the night but may be 40+ feet deep during the day.

Will they go 40+ feet during the day in summertime?
I didn't think that deep would be productive right now during the day due to the thermocline, but could very well be wrong

Thermocline varies depending on what part of the lake your in. There are areas on Lewisville that are 45 ft deep that have a little current and no thermocline. I often see fish move into that area after the morning feed session and they just lay there all day until it’s time to move back up on structure to feed. When I see fish off structure and laying on the bottom in deeper water this time of year they are most often turned off. You can drift through 10000 fish and not get a nibble. If you do find fish feeding in 40+ ft they are going to be up off the bottom and under the clouds of threadfin and require a suspended rig to catch em. The #1 reason I look for fish that are relating to structure this time of year is because those fish are usually in feed mode and are easily catchable. Once they move off structure in the morning you need a stick of dynamite to get em.

Get started early. Get out on some main lake structure like a wind blown points or humps and drift across it. This time of year the fish are going to be on structure in 15-30 ft and will be finished feeding around 10am. This is a Bluecat patter that will produce until around the 2nd week in September.

Me and a bunny went out yesterday. Didn’t take the kayak due to him not having one so we waded and bank fished. Caught this little fellow on stubbys! Pretty good day 1 drum, a catfish, a turtle and about 15 sand bass! Haven’t got into the numbers of catfish I want but I’ll keep at it!

Managed to get two more decent channels today... fun playing in the rain, caught a mess of turtles 🙄 but the two channels made it worth it! Haven’t got to the numbers I want but I’ll get there.

No doubt, on the thermocline. they were thick as thieves in nearly 40 foot of water last night on Ray Roberts. Turned the sensitivity all the way up, and didn't detect a thermocline at all. I don't think Ray Roberts has an aerator, at least not that I've ever seen.

North of Twin Coves, I picked up a solid thermocline-like return at 20-21 feet, while following the old creek bed. I didn't see this all over. Towards the NW end, starting at about 27 feet, I started picking up this thermocline-like return, at 20-21 feet. I have trouble catching them when they're on the bottom, no hope of catching them suspended one of these days.
