Might get lucky with A-1 locksmith

They made spare copies of my 2009 Mercury. They had master keys to that motor.

If you live near Galveston or Dickinson, Pro Tech provides this service. They also have a location in Adabel, OK

They might even be able to send you one by mail

Get you a new key, mix a dab of epoxy, smear it on the key, insert same into ignition and you'll never have this issue again. Been doing this 40+ years after a trip to Toledo bend with no key. What purpose does a keyed ignition serve in a boat anyway?

I wonder how many people have fished a tourny with their trolling motor because they forgot their boat keys?.....kinda like taking plug out of your boat....sooner or later you gonna regret it...

I have replaced two ignition switch assemblies on Yamahas. The original and the two replacements all have been the exact same keys. Coincidence? Or does Yamaha use the same keys on marine switches. I know have 5 keys for the boat. My keys also start two other Skeeters that I have tried it on.

Every time I replace a lid latch, the key always fits the new lock as well. Again...coincidence? (Buying this stuff off Amazon, so Iā€™m not asking for specific keys or locks).

My key broke off in the switch. I bonded it back on with epoxy like you said. Good to go except I can't remove the key, but I doubt anyone is going to start my boat and drive off with it while it is in my barn , on my trailer or I am sitting in it on the water.

Ever heard of kids turning an ignition switch on as a prank? (when a boat is away from home overnight) That way, when you arrive at the lake to fish your tournament, you have no battery to start the outboard or run the accessories. Even worse is a vandalism start - you're away from the boat, someone walks buy and thinks it would be funny to crank the outboard and leave it running (while it is sitting on the trailer). You come out of Bass Pro Shops or a restaurant, and head off to the lake, later discovering something is not right with your outboard that seized up.

They still at least stop the casual theft or key-on vandalism. Most who were planning to steal would not have been stopped by the lock anyway. However, having to pry a lid up might set off a vibration-sensing alarm that would prompt an investigation by the owner.
