So I have a 20’ pontoon rated for 90hp
I have a 100hp Suzuki I’m thing about putting on
Is this a bad idea on only 10hp difference?

Generally, I believe any insurance would be voided in a claim if this were noted. If there were ever an accident, someone might try to make a big deal out of it there too. As far as the slight HP difference, it is unlikely to cause any structural harm; the weight of the 100 hp vs. a typical 90 hp would be worth looking at also. Personally, I would not do it from a liability perspective.

Some insurance people don’t care they just ask how fast is it and where will it get used. Progressive I know doesn’t care about rating, I’m sure there’s more.

If it’s a two log pontoon it might be two mph faster Tri toon maybe five.

I would. I have a Tritoon rated for a 175 and have a 200 on it.

I wouldn't hesitate. If you're worried, re-decal your cowling to the rated HP. zero issues.
