at some point in life we all wake up dead, that and taxes are inevitable.
while covid is a real virus, the info has been tainted so badly that none of it is to be trusted. no matter what, at some point we will all be exposed to it in one way or another, masks be damned!
you are more likely to die of heart attack or stroke out from worrying about it than if you get it.
pc Schools starting. What would be your words of wisdom to teachers that say they are scared and fearful and are hearing words like "If you don't like your job get another job." Buck up and deal with it. If someone you really loved was a 65 year old teacher and was afraid of dying from this virus, would you tell them to Buck up and deal with it? What are the odds of getting Mesothelioma from asbestos exposure? Probably pretty slim. If your employer told you to work with asbestos and just to buck up and deal with it , what would you say? It ain't that simple Bob. Cry me a river.

There is a lot of "facts" out there that are BS on both sides of everything .
We all have to make decisions about what to do with this virus everyday.
Doesn't make either a bad stupid person.
Remaining educated about our current situation is becoming more and more difficult. I agree we have to make decisions for ourselves and our families. As a retired teacher/coach I'm not sure how I would feel but if I signed a contract to go to work, I would go to work. I guess I'm old school like that, you shake a mans hand or sign your name to a deal, you hold up your end of the bargain. I get the contract , shook their hand deal, and I respect that. However, those contracts do not address a "potential" life threatening virus. I don't think teachers with a contract should continue to get paid if they refuse to go back to school, but I would not criticize them for breaking that contract.

Yes the contracts are always written in the districts favor. I'm not sure if there is a clause about something like this. It would be a difficult decision, I'm not denying that.

Sure am glad we humans have this thing called an immune system. Herd immunity will be the end point. Pay now or pay later, either way you're gonna pay. So what is your point posting numbers?
What's being done to help. Have you been worrying everyday of your life about dieing from heart disease or cancer (combined accounts for half the deaths in America yearly)? . Good news is we have a immune system that will eliminate the covid risk with or without a vaccine (which was my whole point). You cannot get heart disease and die from it in a few weeks by going to the grocery store. Heart disease takes years to kill, covid takes weeks.

If it's a concern the could learn to code. I can see a 50-70% reduction in teachers for a virtual classroom environment from kindergarten through college.
Stress less, relax more. Go fishing.

Those teachers that don't want to take the risk will have to move on to another occupation. There will be parents that don't want their kids to be at risk, real or perceived. They will have to home school. Sadly, there is no great solution to this thing. The worst part is all the misdirection by some of the media, the lies by politicians with an agenda, the money to be made by a lot of companies, and the blurred line between facts and fiction.

No, I disagree! The worst part was DENIAL, followed by lie after lie by Trump. Finally he just waved the white flag and told the gov's your on your own.
