depends on how you pack it on the reel. on offshore reels that utilize 20-50pounds of drag.. you put it on under tension. it has to be rock hard when you thump it on the offshore reels or else it digs into itself

Second the mono backing. Reel repair person indicated 90% of drag issues he sees on a reel with braid are because they do not have the mono backing and the line is slipping on the spool.

If the reel holds 110 yds, I'll put about 40-50 yds of 20 lbs mono. Then I put a piece of tape across the spool. Then I spool the braid. If I'm hung up deep with a T-Rig or Carolina Rig, I wrap the line around the boat cleat and put the t-motor on high. If you try to pull it straight from the reel too hard it will dig in, but only to the tape on the backing.

I don't use braid except for jungle fishing but I just put a piece of cloth tape on the spool and works fine. No slippage at all.

I'm piling on here but uses heavier braid than you think you need. Anything less than 40# & it's like sewing thread and more apt to do bad things. Also second on the hook set - you will ruin a lot of reels and a few rods setting the hook as you normally would with conventional lines.

It might dog a little, just be aware next cast, I almost never backlash because of it

I'm using 40 lb on almost everything

If you have braid, then set a hook like you mean it, then it IS diggin in. No way around it
