We just moved to Weatherford from Tennessee. All of our impoundments there are also for barge and other commercial traffic, and they are cleared and buoyed off with a clear channel marked. I understand that that is NOT the case out here.

My main lakes of interest are Lake Weatherford and Lake Granbury. Are either of these lakes (haven't been on either yet) hazardous to run on if you pay attention to the depth? I've been bass boating and fishing for 30 years so I understand the concept of giving points and other things plenty of room. I just don't want to hit a standing timber in 20 feet of water!

Lake Granbury is an impounded river and many of the trees on the bank were not cleared before the impoundment. The river channel is marked by buoys in most locations. It does have lots of debris floating in the lake after large floods. Lake Weatherford has less trees, unless you are at the upper end.

Don't even think about going to Fork or Ray Roberts or . . .

Not on my agenda .... yet. But a weekend trip to Fork will come soon enough.

Just mainly concerned about these 2 that are close to home for now.

Stay in the bouyed boat lanes or at headway speed otherwise. Don't ask me how I know.

When you decide to go to Fork, there are some very knowledgeable folks on this forum who can recommend where to buy a chip that marks the stumps just under the surface. I don’t have specifics but others on here will.
