I remember when those first came out. The "little white guy" was originally green. I think over the years the sun has faded the green bulb covers to white. The new ones with LED bulbs are white because the designers used the old faded ones with the "little white guy" as the model. Or maybe white LED's are just cheaper than green? Ignore me, I'm just rambling.

The "little white man"!  Wouldn’t be able to see a little black man on the light. I guess they could make them yellow...wait no, green..martians so no, red..nope Indians, brown..nope. I guess we just need to take our chances and jaywalk! But that could pizz off some blue birds.
