a lot of the rivers are gold medal streams/rivers, in nm they are called quality waters, special regs for certain stretches and no barbs is one of the main rules, no live bait etc.

no barb makes it a lot easier to release and a bunch of stretches are cpr.

pretty much any of the maintained pull outs/parking areas will have the regs. for the immediate stretch of water they are for, some areas you have to be careful of how far up or down stream you go due to different regs for that stretch. everywhere I fished was spinning or fly, no live baits except for some of the lakes, power bait works just fine for bank fishin.

Talk about taking all the fun out of fishing, I'm glad I don't live Colorado. Still don't understand the barbless thing though. I hope you are still enjoying that awesome blue Champ too Hop!

I pinch all my barbs down regardless of regulations, easier on the fish I release. Trout are easy to catch and fun to fight, I release them all unless hooked too deep , they go on a fire.
Pinched barbs make you really finesse the fish, not just planer board them in to the shore.
The fight is part of the fun in catching them.

Haven’t fished Vale Co. but fished a lot up in Steamboat Springs. Best trout lures were, brown Roster Tails with gold spinner, Black w/ yellow dot Martin Panthers with gold spinner. Silver colored Blue Fox Spinners.
