Is Catch and Release BAD? (No New World Records)Is catch and release bad for fishing? I've always been fascinated by GIANT bass (15 pounds and up), however I find it very ironic that my PB is only just shy of 8 pounds. I always found myself looking at old videos of Dottie the Bass, among other record-shattering fish. After a while I wondered: why aren't we seeing bass like Dottie anymore? I scoured through the record books and found a common correlation: 90% of the top 25 bass ever caught were caught between the 1980's and the early 2000's. So why was this timeframe so prolific in producing record-sized bass? Well, after hours of extensive research and studying, I found a number of articles that I believe could explain this phenomenon. So sit back, relax, and enjoy the video!

Interesting accumulation of information. I'm sure it took a lot of work to get that together. I knew that Japan started requiring all bass to be removed and killed (no live release). I had not thought about how that would take away the competition over time, resulting in some truly trophy fish.

Solid material and worth complying ...i.e. Arkansas striper laws. A three per day per person limit, no culls . Huge stripes taken from lakes Hamilton and Ouachita over 30 lbs yearly.

Yeah, I kind of wonder about our management practices sometimes.
