Last night I didn't expect to catch any fish. I was on the lake mainly to try out a new fishfinder. My son and I thought we would fish a little while we were out. The wind was high and the boat traffic was constant. We fished a point and some docks. I kept throwing a spinnerbait at a dock ladder and caught a 5.5lb largemouth! I was shocked and surprised. I must have thrown the same spinnerbait around that ladder to different depths 5-6 times. The conditions and depth were all wrong. You just never know.

Wow; that was neat. May I ask why you kept pitching to the ladder? I understand you were trying to cover all depths of it; but was that the only reason?

I don't really know. I think I kept casting to the ladder because it just looked like a place a bass would want to hang out. My son was fishing on the back of the boat and I try not to move too quickly.

bass LOVE ladders!! Glad you were persistent enough to make it bite!

I have read over and over about guys who had to make 15-20 casts or more to a certain stump/log/dock post before the bass bit. Maybe from annoyance, maybe cus it just didn't see it the other times, maybe cus this time it deflected just right, who knows but you do hear about it!
