I know they don’t cost much but I have a couple mettle’s I’d like to see if they’re worth fixing or should I just buy some new reels. They have lasted longer than my lews and abu’s

Had a tac40 that I bought two years ago. Gears stripped a couple weeks ago. Took it to academy without a receipt and they replaced it no hassle. Might try that on ur mettles. GL

Academy’s in San Antonio are not like that. Must have receipt. And won’t budge in it ever. Hard to believe especially with products they only sell. I get that others want to take different items purchase elsewhere to them for Replacement. But when it’s an item/brand of their own then why the heck not? Just my Two cents.

Because they have no way to know if YOU bought them. They only offer warranty to the original owner, w/ receipt. It’s not that hard to take a pic of the receipt on your phone, or keep them in a ziplock bag. For all they know, you could have bought them at a pawn shop or garage sale. Haha. I’m not suggesting that you did, but they have to know you paid for them.

I use a bait cast mettle for wade fishing, and they are great reels for the price. Yes, they are not like my Lew's or Garcia's, but the cast great. Unfortunately, you can not repair them due that parts are not available. I suggest to buy two, and use one for parts down the road.

The Mettle’s are great reels for the $60 price point and have outperformed many other more expensive reels. I would definitely recommend trying to fix it

I have the Mettle, and some other H20 XPress reels, and they are very good.
By all means, yes, if the cost to "fix" is not too expensive, yes, fix them.
If the cost of "repairs" is close to the cost of a new reel, then buy new reels and "practice" fixing the older ones yourself!
