Houston is not an island and New Zealand did not encourage a month of riots and protesting. New Zealand did not host a funeral that had over 100,000 in attendance with social distancing guidelines really not being followed either.

Houston is not an island and New Zealand did not encourage a month of riots and protesting. You're conveniently ignoring the fact that much of the USA ignored the well-known and standard public health practices that are effective in limiting the spread of a pathogen.

New Zealand has 1 international airport....easy to shut that country off. I have friends that live there and were barely able to get back before they closed the airport.

Guys, its a Woke azz virus that doesn't attack BLM protesters... This has been covered. Stop blaming St. George Floyd's funeral, remember, its the straight white men going to bars that caused the uptick. Ohh and people continuing to work to support their families.

You're conveniently ignoring the fact that much of the USA ignored the well-known and standard public health practices that are effective in limiting the spread of a pathogen. That is what happens when a nationally recognized expert like Fauci changes his opinion and directives every 5 days as he has since day 1 of this. He initially downplayed its threat to the US then he lied about masks. Its no wonder so many are not trusting the information that he delivers.

Or he could get caught paying his gay lover $100k a year when there was a hiring freeze, and he refuse to pay the firefighters after a court ruled.
Oh wait that happened and he still got elected.

Congressman Dan Crenshaw just posted this:
A few key stats today as we are facing COVID-19 in Houston
Daily hospital growth rate is just .2% down from 5.2%, just a week ago
We are still in “Phase 2” of our ICU surge capacity plan.
Just 9% of our Phase 2 capacity is full
Phase 3 is not expected in the next two weeks
—
This means the hospitals can surge another 842 beds -- at minimum-- if needed. It is worth noting that hospitals regularly operate at 95% ICU capacity this time of year.
—
Texas still has one of the lowest death rates in the entire country. Our case fatality rate is just 1.23%
New York has 10x the COVID-19 deaths of Texas. 164 deaths per 100,000 vs 11 deaths per 100,000
CA’s spike in cases is as bad as Texas, even though their lockdown was longer.
Other good news is today was one of the best days in regards to hospitalization rate increases that we have had in several weeks. No significant increase today at all which is great. Hospitalizations actually decreased by 5 today from yesterday,Overall new cases were down almost half of what it has been the past few days but Monday numbers on those can be lower on average. Usually not 5000 lower as they are today but that is at least a big decrease in new case rates. We gotta take good news as we can find it.

Get out of here with those good stats Mark. We would rather push doom & gloom and force another shut down. Hell, Turner just said he wants another shutdown and that the rise in cases is due to those "splash town parties and backyard get togethers." This had nothing to do with it though...

Lock it down, kill the economy worse than first shut down then reopen right before the election and blame Trump for a terrible economy. That the way they operate.

If Abbott does it he will do it at 4:00PM on a Friday. If Abbott does it, we'll be rid of him in 2023, because he will not win reelection at that point. He's a perfect example as to why the only elected position a lawyer should hold is judge, district attorney, or attorney general.

I just think the way he has flip flopped on it all and the way they handled the Luther deal and the fact they are suing Houston because they cannot hold the convention there this week will make any lockdown ineffective. People see the irony in all of that and are fed up with 2 sets of rules over it all. A lot of people are not gonna just sit at home and not open their small businesses. He has probably already screwed any chance of getting reelected no matter what he does. If the hospitalizations start to trend down consistently then he really will not have a plausible reason to shut it down.
