There is the danger in having multiple boats in a small area.

Yep, in such a case your boat is at the mercy of any ill-maintained or unsafe boat within fire-transfer range. You might have good wiring on your charger to prevent electrical fires, but what about that boat 2 slips over? It may be an accident waiting to happen.

Boat fires are nasty. First the gas goes then all the other stuff. Looks almost like a tire fire once the fiberglass gets going. Inboards can be scary if not vented. Friend of mine just fueled his Sea Ray at Mill Creek on Texoma. Fortunately his daughter had to go to the restroom and he fired it up. She had been sitting on engine cover. It went and they pushed it out away from docks and let it burn. I have seen a couple on Hubbard and Texoma.

I was staying at a marina when a houseboat ignited. They pushed it out of the slip once they realized there was no stopping the fire. Flames were 30+ feet high, and we felt the heat from it at quite a distance.
