Headed down to Port A with the wife and a few of our friends for her birthday.
We plan on going to the beach, having a few cold drinks, eating some good food, and doing some fishing from the bank / pier (If we can find a spot).
I was surprised to hear her say that she wouldn't mind doing some fishing so I am pumped!
If anyone that is familiar with the area could point me in the right direction as to where we would be allowed to drown a few live shrimp, would greatly appreciate it.

I have never been down to Port A, but just from doing some research I have found that we are going to be staying about 5-10 minutes from Keeper's on Caldwell pier.
Is this spot any good?
If so, would live shrimp be a good bait?
Any info I should know about down there would be awesome.

Also looking for a good place to eat some seafood if Open.

A good place to start would be the jetties at Port Aransas. Nice maintained beaches there to hang out on for friends, safe.

Do not think you have to walk all the way to the end, as there will be fish within 300 ft of the beach. Due to currents and rocks, maybe a popping cork with live shrimp about 24 to 36 inches below it. The weight of the popping cork will help casting in the wind, too. The beach water temps will help everyone feel cooler, as the wind comes off the cooler water.

If you wanted to "get out of town", drive down 361 south towards Corpus, and take Beach Access Road #2, turn south on beach, and drive 1.5 miles and try the Fish Pass Jetties. They are shorter, usually less people, and it has a nice beach, too.

Those are my surf suggestions. The water has been murky lately, but you might get lucky and it will clear up some.

Port A Outfitters at Junction of Cotter and Alister has live shrimp (usually), take an aerator and bucket with lid.to keep them lively until you get to water.

Virginia's has decent seafood, in on the water (harbor view), and they are near that intersection, also. Don't know other restaurants since Harvey hit in 2017.

If open, our all-time favorite Is the Beach & Station Street Restaurant located on the corner of Beach and Station streets.. Usually only open in the evenings. World's best stuffed flounder!!! Also enjoy Moby Dick's.Great Tex-Mex breakfasts at Restaurant San Juan on Cut-off road. Enjoy!

PortA is a zoo when it comes to eating out. be prepared for 1+hr waits at most restaurants. Typical summer crowds + 1/3 the restaurant capacity = wait wait wait. When we were there 2 weeks ago, a restaurant actually shut down one night because the previous night was so busy, they ran out of food. We opted to cook our catch at the condo instead. Just my opinion.

YOu'll definitely have fun though.

As Thumpmeister1 said, Taqueria San Miguel on Cutoff Rd is good food. And fast. And not just for breakfast. I often said that if I lived in Port A, I would go there every day for breakfast specials, buy two, and take one home for lunch or supper. They get folks in, fed, and out quickly. In the old days when we just needed an evening meal, we would go there for evening meals, even seafood. Hardly ever crowded in the evenings (but, alas, that was then, not sure about now).
