would you say television influenced you while growing up?
for me it would be a lot, always been a huge cowboy/indian movie fan and still watch mostly old westerns. have noticed lately that on the shows that were on when I was a kid the following. kids were always respectful and obedient. the good guy always had good reason to fight and won 99.99% of the time cop shows were always with good cops (although I did have a few problems in this dept. while growing up) and had a good msg about breaking the law. overall we watched tv like ed sullivan, the tonight show with jack parr then johnny along with dean martin, laugh in etc. and all were entertainment and fun, carol burnett is still my fav.

Very little, I had 4 sisters and spent as little time as possible in the house.
Stress less, relax more. Go fishing.

Being a child of the 60s, I watched a lot of TV. We got our 1st color TV in 1960. The 1st show I saw in color was Bonanza. Also the color section of the Wizard of Oz was pretty much leading edge at the time.

Half of my social interaction is based on phrases I've learned from movies. So yes, it was greatly influential in my life

Same as a kid, not much as an adult and hardly any now as a old fart.

Not much. Mama always had it on her shows and I didn't have my own tv until I left home. Occasionally I would sit down and watch whatever was on, but it was rare. I was usually outside doing something or curled up someplace quiet with a book.

Have Gun Will Travel, Gunsmoke (with Chester, not Festus), Ed Sullivan, Mickey Mouse Club, Mighty Mouse, Popeye, Heckle and Jeckel, Friday Night Fights, Lassie, Rin Tin Tin. All good wholesome stuff. Oh, The Three Stooges (with Curly, not Shemp).
Right from wrong, no cussing,

Not much if any at all. I grew up in an area with almost no houses or neighbors and had miles of fields I could roam. Had a pellet gun at age 6 and a 22 at age 10 and the whole world was my oyster. I had a lot more important "kid" things to do than watch the idiot box.

Ya know, I hadn’t thought about it until you posted this, but I never had my own TV either- Heck, I only had my own room after my brother left home when I was 17, I moved right after graduating high school and bought a 2nd hand TV then. But we got our first color TV around 1966 or so, I remember seeing them at my friends houses so I knew that they existed, But that was just for those well off folks- Only one TV in the house the whole time growing up-

TV at times was the bain of my young childhood...:) My mother idolized Lawarence Welk and I was forced to try and learn to play the accordian...never did, no musical talent...:) Did get to watch Disney and loved the Davy Crockett shows/movies, Have Gun will travel, Johnny Yuma. Spent most of my time outside fishing or just exploring the neighboring farms and ranches....and during my explorations I discovered that...ranchers/farmers had daughters...:)
I honestly don't watch much tv anymore but when I do it's more history type stuff or some of the old westerns like Laramie or Cimmeron Strip.

Same here. If we were around the house, we were put to work. We hung around for Saturday morning cartoons (no cable in the 60's) and then got the heck out of Dodge. It didn't matter if it was 30 degrees or 100. Back then, we would go for miles (maybe 1 or 2) from the house on our bikes. There was basketball at the church parking lot, football in the vacant lots under the power lines, hunting with our BB guns in the woods or fishing in the pond. I could go on but all of you "olds" know the story.
