I have the Lowrance 334 igps on the console and have no problems. I think it really depends on how you are planning on mounting it. If it has full clearance, you should be fine. I would not flush mount one though as this caused a lot of problems from what I have heard. Others may be able to add more to this.

Just installed a 522c on my boat on Sunday. I mounted it at the console on a RAM mount. I haven't had any problems yet. I suggest the Navionics Premium '07 map also. Lots better detail than the Lowrance alone.

I have a Lowrance 334 mounted on a ram unit with no obstructions and it is constantly going in and out. I have done every software upgrade and done a hard reset on the unit and it is still very subpar at best.

I would highly recommend the external antenna unit.

I have an Eagle 642c and don't have any problems at all. Uncheck Require WAAS in the menu. Very seldom will you ever get a true WAAS signal so it will constantly beep at you and say signal lost. The only time mine has lost a signal was when I was sitting under a bridge for an extended period of time.
