*Update* Found the article; I think their emphasis on the importance of payouts drawing attention from casual fans is misguided. Seems to me that golf's relatively recent boom in popularity wasn't from big payouts, it was mostly from a compelling story and character to follow (Tiger). Feel like fishing is going to require a similar personality/storyline-based approach to appeal and relate more to the casual viewer.

And his name is Jacob Wheeler!

Won’t be long before they’ve moonwalked back into a 5 fish trail.

Lol, the impact of Covid on a league is easy to quantify when brands reduce sponsorship levels, events get cancelled or a season is truncated and revenue is lost and less than 5 months ago everything was rocking.

Lol, he would be all over this if they let him back on. He wouldn’t make it 24 hours on the board...

Heck I don’t blame them for jumping ship when something is free, guess they will soon find out the worst word in the dictionary is the word “Free” but that goes for many other things as well!

The main two points BPT and their pros were selling this time last year was conservation and no entry fees. One year later we have fish in livewells and entry fees back on the books for next year. I get that these are crazy times, but it's still a bad look. The chances of them ever going back to no entry fees again is near zero in my opinion. All this "change" in the bass tournament world over the last few years has led us back to right where we started. BASS vs FLW and five fish in the livewell. Only difference now is you have an extra level of "pros" competing for sponsorship money on the FLW side. The argument could be made that professional bass fishing has actually taken several steps back instead of forward. I'm not trying to bash MLF/FLW, but that is just the reality of where we are.

But what sponsor brands are struggling? I looked at their sponsor list and all seem to be doing pretty well during COVID. Except Evinrude.
Are we certain this isn’t just another example of Boyd Duckett and management being less than truthful?
