A "fishing guide" sent me this and I'm pretty sure it is total BS.
I see you don't know very much about TPWD'S fishing reports. They are compiled one time a year by one person who is the lowest bidder and it's there best guess at what is going on. No different than the Hot Spots report I do for Texas Fish & Game magazine we do those 3 months in advance and they really want them 6 months in advance so they can make it to print.
I sent an email to TPWD for a response and will post it when received.
Do any of you know anything about how the TPWD fishing reports are prepared?

However they are compiled they are not worth much. Best to call a guide for a particular lake.

I was told by TP&W they are collected by phone once a week from guides, fishermen, and marinas.. But think about it, does a guide or marina want you to see how bad fishing is at times? No, they want you to come spend money so they slightly embellish the reports.
Transgenders: God made them, the devil changed their minds.

The reports seldom change much. I sure don't put much faith in them.

The only thing that might be accurate on them is the water level on said lake.

TXPW: Thank you for your feedback. Our fishing reports are compiled each week by an outside vendor: Cool Brand Media. They gather information from various fishing guides and other contacts around the state to produce the reports.
