I decided to get out today and try to beat the holiday crowd. Me and the boys caught fish in 18-25 fow at Staubach Hump, Long Ridge, and Mid Lake Hump from about 1-5pm. Couldn’t get them to bite at the spots near the dam. Caught 100 fish total. 7 legal hybrids, 5 small catfish, and the rest whites up to 14 inches. All caught using the Dennis Christian Mepps technique while thumping with my Bobo thumper. Kept a few for a fish fry this weekend. Be careful out there this weekend!

Good stuff! I'll be out there all weekend. Hoping to find some sandies and striper. I may be stuck fishing from a jet ski, so we'll see how that goes lol.

Good to see you and your family out on the water and using the Mepps technique. For those who don't know, Book and his family took several places in last year's Cedar Creek White Bass Tournament - all using the Mepps technique. I recall one of your sons caught the big fish of the tournament, and it was in the children's division. Those not familiar with the Mepps method, in my signature block there are link's to an article about it by late DMN outdoors editor Ray Sasser and a video of it by me. I also wrote an article on discovering the technique, and it can be found here Dennis

The fish must be stimulated by the sounds of low flying jet aircraft and/or fireworks. On Sunday after the airshow we caught fish on the south side of Long Ridge about the middle of the ridge. We moved on to the south side of Iron Wall Hump and found more fish in about 26 foot of water. It was so hot we moved around quite a bit to just keep cool. Quick drive by at rock pile, and enchanted oaks and didn't see much, but didn't spend much time searching. Went on to Game Warden where we caught quite a few more. I don't count but estimate we did about 15 per spot before we got off the water. Air Conditioning felt pretty good when we got home.
