Had the day off yesterday so I got to take my Dad up to Ray Bob and fished the timber. With no wind I figured it was gonna be a short trip because of the heat and my Dads age, we ended up with 30 fish with 24 keepers by 1:30. The wind just died and it was 99 degrees so we got off the water. It was a 50/50 mix of jigs to minnows. I love to fish with the welding rods with minnows in the timber, but a friend turned me on to a new jig that you tip with a minnow, it's got a little weight to it so when you get hung in the timber you just slack the line and surprisingly you get it back most of the time, if you don't you just pull hard and straighten out the hook to get it back then just bend back. I never lost a rig.
