What size tire? I have Goodyear 114, H rated. But my trailer is heavy 20,000 lbs. Those Goodyear's are an overkill and expensive but so far I haven't had trouble on the road.

No Carlise. Goodyear endurance are very good up to E rating. Use Goodyear G614 or Sailun for G rated or higher

It’s been a awhile since I had my 5th wheel, but he needs to know his weights. My 5th wheel came with Carlisle tires each one rated for around 2,500 lbs. the problem was first the trailer GVWR was 11,500lbs. The tires were marginal at best when considering tongue weight.

The other issue was valve stems. It seems there are a couple of style stems each with a max pressure rating.

So make sure the load rating on the tires is sufficient to handle the trailer weight with excess margin. Make sure the correct valve stems are used. I went full stainless bolt in style, although the full brass insert pop in one would have worked ( the full rubber ones are not up to the pressure ratings as the other two)

My 5th wheel chewed up I think 4 tires in one year. They were each replaced under warranty. I called Carlisle and they agreed to replace all 5 (spare included). I did however switch to truck tires on the trailer.

My Allison trailer had Carlisles and I Never had an issue. Of course that was a different size tire and a much lighter trailer.

People do talk up the Goodyear Endurance- I’ve no experience with them.

Yes, very good advice, and an added bonus - they are actually manufactured IN the USA!
