Anyone been to the Estes Park area and fished with a guide in the rivers? I have no idea how to fly fish, but was kind of wanting to try it or at least throw a spinning rig. Going next week so short notice, but curious if anyone had any recommendations on guys to reach out to?

No need for a guide if spinning. Get some Panther Martins, pinch down the barb and go after it.

I am completely ignorant as to where to even start etc. I am debating on whether to pay a guy so I can at least have a decent experience compared to me going and not knowing a thing about it and not catching anything. haha

1/8 oz or smaller Rooster Tails (Yellow Coachdog is great) or Panther Martins. 4-6 lb clear mono. Those trout have excellent vision. I've also seen a guy slay the trout on Berkley Power Bait when they were ignoring spinners. The Panther Martins will cast further and sink deeper than the Rooster Tails. People tend to fish spinners way too fast. I tie directly on and avoid snap swivels. Less can be more. Ramp up the size if you expect brown trout or are on a lake.

Stayed at bear paw cabins and fished the Fall River between the bridge going into bear paw and the bridge down stream toward town did really well in that area.Went with a guide at a fly shop across form fun city it was our first time fly fishing and we had a great time but where he took us there was lots of climbing involved. Also had good luck behind the same fly shop.we used 1/6 ounce gold Thomas spoons, don’t let the small water fool you there are plenty of trout(the guide took us to the big Thompson)find any slack water with deep pockets behind boulders and let your spoon flutter behind the rocks. There are quality water behind the dam on the town lake it looked really good but also gets lots of pressure so don’t waste your time there.Had better luck at the Fall River than the big Thompson.

Thanks for all the pointers! I think I'm going to go with a guide from Kirk's.

This is good advice here. One thing I will add is if your fishing a small stream you have to be very stealth and work your way upstream. The trout are facing upstream generally and you have to sneak up on them with the clear water or they will spook. Most guides up there will be no help unless you are fly fishing.
