80,000 boat. 65,000 truck. 25000 in electronics plus outrageous insurance for all of it.
But 20.00 is the wall. Interesting
Finally there’s a breaking point but who knew it was this amount. LOL you question paying a $20 ramp fee and compare it to expensive equipment ....and your screen name is "Fishing on a string" .....Whats up with that?

Stowaway $10. Somebody has to pay to maintain ramps plus make a profit.

People assign value to some crazy things, don't they?
Twenty dollars is taking 2 grandkids to McDonald's, conservatively. After about 6 hours, what's that $20 meal worth? The product of a good bowel movement, right? Compare that to the ability to put your boat in the water at someone else's expense and fish 1) by yourself in peace, 2) share some time with a good friend, or 3) be a hero to some kids.
Nobody is "owed" the privilege to use someone else's property without sharing a smidgen of the cost of ownership and maintenance. In these days, 20 bucks is more than fair. Lots of municipalities with high traffic from local population, like Travis County, and the LCRA, charge for ramp/lot usage. That's the way it is nowadays.
Owning lakefront property open to the public is a huge expense in mortgage, taxes, maintenance, and a big one... liability insurance. What if a pre-teen kid or senior citizen falls on a slick boat ramp? Give me a break... twenty bucks to launch and park at a controlled ramp/lot is a bargain.
Just sayin' MHO. Your mileage may vary.

April Plaza hasn’t lost any business and if I I owned it I’d charge $20 also, why not? If your parking lot is full and there’s a line to get in why not collect more money and maybe help the congestion a little. I’m not impressed with any of the marinas on Conroe but they are full and get more people year after year so can’t blame them. I bought the yearly pass so it’s actually pretty reasonable if you use it very often. It’s already paid for itself and I still have about 9 months left on it.
Cagle is decent and $5 or better yet buy the yearly pass and it’s really cheap.

I went to the marina at Pool a few months ago when everything else was closed. Loyd park charges me $5 and IMO has better security. The marina charged me $20 and now I have a nice chunk out of the fiberglass on the side of the boat from their makeshift dock and the fender on my trailer bent in from someone who hit my trailer. Insult to injury. If you are going to raise the prices atleast maintain the ramps and replace the broken lights.

If you were to play by the rules every ramp at Ray Bob is $7 PER PERSON not $7 to launch. Silver lake on Grapevine charges $20+ when the other ramps are closed. Eagle Mountain has 2 maybe 3 that charge north of $20. Pretty normal around the cities.... we don’t have it like out at Fork where the marinas charge $5 and all the public ramps are free.

Hmmmm.......6" thick paving on lime sub-grade is running $41 square yard in the big city markets right now. Figure the parking lot is 100' X 200' in size for simple math. That equates to $90K just to pave and lime the parking lot let alone construct a 2 lane ramp (in the lake), coffer dam (pumping), construct the dock, stripe, site lighting, cost to purchase the property and get the required permits to construct and operate, taxes, maintenance.........I'm cool with y'all not spending the $20 bucks, makes for less congestion and closer parking for those of us who get it.

Well I did not read all of this but let me throw my 2 cents in on April Plaza. For years they have gradually creeped up on their launch fees. And in that time have done absolutely nothing to improve the slips at the ramp. When I pulled in a month or so back and it had gone to $20 I went to Lakeview and bought a pass for the rest of the year. Lakeview is at least in the process of improving their infrastructure and the management is not a bunch of rude kids.
Sure whoever owns AP can do what they want, eventually they will be a private ramp anyway like Inland (now 105 something). I will fish out of Lakeview this year and then look for somewhere else to go. Probably make the drive to Stowaway next year or just keep going and head to Rayburn.

Have a friend on PK that has 2 ramps, 30 cabins, 30 Rv sites and Restaurant and doesn't charge a dime for ramps, said if people stop and get ice, beer or lunch that's payment enough.
