I believe, with enough time and gumption, I could show that the lay people I've seen wearing masks are doing more harm than good. I might be wrong, but the general public I've seen are constantly lowering the mask with their hand, touching objects, then back to the mask and so on. People I've seen with masks and gloves are the worst offenders. I think it's a false sense of security. Proper infection control protocol is completely different. You're just bringing more virus to your face in the process. N95 masks are very effective but others just filter some virion sized particles.
Stay six feet away from people. That works.
I wear a mask all day at work and I'm not willing to wear one outside of work. I'm sorry if that offends some of you.

demonstrable false statements.... The masks cannot filter a virus. If an rotten eggs scent could be applier to the virus every public space would smell like rotten eggs. Feel good stuff to appease the feel good people in public spaces. Odor molecules are super small, at most a few nanometers in size. A droplet from a sneeze is 6 micrometers. So a droplet carrying COVID is many thousands of times larger than a molecule of smell. The virus doesn't areosolize or not much anyway in most cases. Aren't you an engineer John? You are no dummy I know you know that.

There's vastly less virus in the environment to pick up to begin with if everyone is wearing a mask. Countries that have had mask requirements but followed a similar pattern to us in terms of lock downs are now doing vastly better than us. They also have a bunch of slow motion studies out now that actually show particles moving through the air and what % gets expelled or gets through the mask. It's pretty clear when you see it. I do agree, gloves don't do you a bit of good, more a liability than an asset.

None for me. 300 people on this jobsite, everyone exposed to everyone else in some form or fashion. ~200 or so are single men who more than likely are running the roads and having fun every weekend, many go to New Orleans. Not one single case here, but the office had at least 6-8 people with something upper respiratory (not the flu though) in early March.
I do not go anywhere that requires a mask. Walmart, the grocery store, the gas station and that's about it for my exposure to the public, other than the 300 people here working.
Wear a mask, don't wear a mask, it's personal choice.

I 100% agree that it should be a personal choice.

I 100% agree that it should be a personal choice. it's not though. it's mandated here and stores are enforcing it.

You should know then that the physics and medical science suggests that the practice of wearing a thin cotton face covering is a placebo at best. As you can see, the biased media is yet again inflating and misconstruing the dats in favor of a " new norm". No sir, I dont buy it. But you can and I dont hate you for it.
Bob, I think you are sorely mistaken, but I also don't hate you for it.

Then I walk out on the plant floor and see guys not wearing them or wearing them improperly.(they should be scolded for being insensitive to the human race). Thing is 90 percent of them never get within 10 feet of each other. Now they go to lunch and sit right next to each other with no mask. What's the point?

I have started to. Ace Hardware in Rockwall requires one I know. Last time I was in there they asked me immediately if I had a mask. I said "No", because I have been in there many many times without one since Feb. So they gave me a POS mask made in china, probably had the china flu embedded in it. I wonder what happened, like did somebody who works in there get the chiner or what? It is not Rockwall County mandated.

Our work has gone to amazing lengths to keep everyone safe...
1) Break room tables are limited to 4 per table, have 4' high plexiglass barriers between the seats, they also sanitize the tables after break 2) All cubicle / workstations are now separated by the same plexiglass barriers 3) All staff is required to enter through one entrance where a thermal camera reviews each team member 4) Mask and eye protection are required at all times, gloves are optional, but strongly suggested 5) Every two weeks a company comes in and sterilizes all work stations, hardware, etc 6) Working from home is mandated to those that can work remote

Farts are only .5nm while coronavirius is around 50nm.
