What is the humidity inside your house with the AC on?

Mine is sitting way up at 75% my Ecobee says. Has seemed stuffy for a few weeks.

House and unit are fairly new, built 3.5 years ago. Foamed roof and standard insulation in the walls.

I called the people that installed the unit and they told me it was humid in my house because it rained so much crazy. I explained this has been going on for a while and their response was to give it a few days to settle out.

Thoughts?

You dont have too big an AC do you? Too much tonnage will cause air not to cycle enough and you get humidity.

Not sure. They installed what I needed based on square footage I would have thought. I am at 2300 sq ft with 14 seer 3.5 ton I think.

What temp do you keep your house.
Farther from dew point, the easier to lower.
What is dew point whwn you are measuring your house.
So many factors on humidity

No idea why it would be so high, have you checked your condensate lines for proper drainage or if water is collecting in the overflow pan?

ours has been that way for a couple years. So I broke down and bought a dehumidifier off of amazon for a couple hundred bucks. now we run around 52-55% humidity. we only use the machine a couple hours a day. its crazy how much water if pulls out of the air.

Thinking maybe your house and AC is too efficient and it's not running enough to remove the humidity. I think this is why a lot of units are now dual stage or variable so the system runs and still removes humidity while not cooling at 100% load every time. Maybe your unit is dual/variable, so if it is, I don't know what would be the issue. I know in the morning at my house it feels stale and slightly humid, so I'll bump it down one degree and it removes most of that feeling.

Namaste addendum disclaimer - I'm not an expert, I just deal with AC companies more often than I should.

Anything above 50-52% sustained can stimulate mold growth. I would call the manufacturer.

Ours stays at 35-40% most of the time.

75% is not normal and you need to find out what is the problem.

This. If your house is efficient and doesnt need the ac to run all the time you need to get a dehumidifier put in to keep the humidity in check. Having high humidity will cause all kinds of mold issues, especially in your roof decking. Make sure you keep your attic humidity under control too. Also, if your house is that efficient and you dont have a fresh air intake tied in to atleast the ac system you probably need one. The air in your house can get way worse than most outside air, even in polluted cities.

It is humid today. 63% outside on the patio, 58% in the hacienda now. It's good for my acoustic guitars, I'm good.
