I’ve been venturing out to take a challenge on old school bassin. I have a couple of Zebco omega reels spooled with 12 lb line. Have a fishing trip planned with a bud and his boat in a 40 acre pond full of good size bass.
What’s your spincast story

I fished farm ponds mostly as a teen, using spincast reels (my better ones were Abu Garcia). I caught quite a few nice fish on them, the largest being 7.25# caught on a Heddon Sonic, predecessor to the Rat-L-Trap. The 7.25 was weighed on certified grocery store details and mounted. I probably never used more than 12# test back in those days. I didn't get my first true bass fishing baitcast rig until after college.

I’ve never tried it, but I would like to have a Barbie, Superman, Spider-Man kids pole tourney on Fairfield. Sounds like fun catching hyperactive 5-6 pounders on some blister pack combos.

My Dad is 74 and all he will fish with are Zebco 33's. Its always a blast when he hooks a 4 or 5 pounder. He's beat me out of the back of the boat plenty of times as well. The ole spin-caster will still get the job done that's for sure.

I believe I remember a bassmaster tournament in the 80's to early 90's where Woo Dave's used spin cars reals and won the tournament.

Brother caught this one on Calling Panther Lake in MS. It’s a flooded forest. He only fishes a spinning reel with a trick worm and a sinker 12” up like a mini c rig. He cast to a stump on the bank about 25 feet from where we were. The boat was in 15 fow. The fish bit and we thought he was hung and started trolling around a large group of stumps. His drag was stripping, I told him it was because we were moving and his line was wrapped around an adjacent stump. About 15 feet to the other side of my boat, she jumped. I still wasn’t convinced it was on his line due to being so far away from where his bait landed when he cast. Finally we figured out it was his. His line was wrapped severely around multiple limbs. He was about to cut his line (12 pound mono) and I said give it minute. It finally broke free and we landed it after what seemed like forever. I didn’t have a scale but I bet it was close to 10. I told him it was 8...

We used to test how light of line we could sight fish with. We caught several 7-8+ on 4-6lb test. Never could land them on 2lb trilene

With one guide? Tan in color?

I caught one just over 8 on a Zebco 33, Stren 10 pound original fluorescent, and if I recall correctly a Ugly Stick 5' 6" pistol grip rod!

I mainly crappie fish, my minnow rigs are 80's model zebco 33's...we have boated many 5,6 and 7 lbers.
The driving force and secret desire of every bass fisherman, is to one day be a crappie fisherman............Could it be that the good Lord just smilies and looks the other way when a fisherman tells a lie?
