AMEN, Fishin is 365-24-7. No need to winterize your boat in Texas

If you don't use your boat that often, just buy some Stabil at the local auto part store and run it in your boat all the time. It will not hurt the boat, but if you get busy and don't take the boat out for a 3-4 months, it will not hurt anything. That $8 bottle of stabil can save you hundreds in repairs!

Early on(decades ago), pre-mix oil did not contain fuel stabilizers. If you wanted your single cylinder 2 stroker outboard or lawn equipment to start up again and not have to pay for a new carb or a carb rebuild, you ALWAYS ran it dry. With very few exceptions most all pre-mix contains fuel stabilizers so unless the storage period is is going to be an extremely long one, additional stabilizers are not necessary.

Even today in my lawn maintenance business during the last week of work for the year, I add fuel stabilizer to the fuel and then winterize them by running them dry and lubricating the cylinder/piston with a small squirt of oil. Perhaps it is my age that I still do this, but equipment topped off with gas/stabilizer in the fall never started up and ran like the ones that have been properly winterized

thumb best advice on here...I always use Stabil. Put in everything you run, weedeaters, chainsaws, 4 wheelers and mowers. works great!

2nd, 3rd and 4th that.

New boat in '01. It's NEVER been fueled without it. No fuel problems even when I had to leave it sit for 6 months.

Stabil goes in the 5 gal can AT THE PUMP for all the other gas motors all year 'round. Weed whacker always starts. Not sure that's a good thing though. smile

Does running the OB dry in the middle of the lake count?? wink
